A Musical Life
What we expose ourselves to consistently can have a profound impact on our being.
I was exposed to music from before the crib and on up, on a daily basis. I really don’t remember a time in my life when my dad wasn’t listening to music. My life had a soundtrack and it was mostly cool jazz, and I felt it deeply, at a cellular level.
My mom started me on classical piano lessons at four years old and I actually enjoyed practicing (usually) and I’d pluck out melodies I’d hear on my favorite T.V. shows.
Mom passed away when I was eleven but she started me on my “playing music” journey, and for that, I am eternally grateful!
Later on I was turned on to, and by, rock and blues as well as cool jazz. My love of music came back to bite the family when I dropped out of pre-med studies in college to pursue my beloved music.
I have no regrets as music has opened doors for me to awesome experiences all over the planet. I even met my wife at a gig!
Dad “got it” when he was able to see me perform live in Paris, France and at a ski resort in the French Alps! I am so grateful to remember his proud smile. I can feel it now…
My personal influences are wide ranging including jazz, blues, rock, reggae, world music, hip-hop and even classical music!
I feel very lucky to have a wide-ranging taste for foods, arts, people and places. I am forever grateful for the awe-inspiring diversity we share in culture and in nature.
One Love,
Levi
